How to measure a move
- The minutes per bedroom are mover-minutes for loading and unloading, not truck time.
- Put the drive between the two homes, plus the drive to the first home, in the drive time.
- Long carries, elevators and parking far from the door all slow a move. Raise the minutes for those.
What this free version leaves out
Most movers sell by the hour. The "price per mover-hour" line shows what this price works out to per mover, so you can check it against your hourly rate. It also prices every customer the same way, whatever the season, the access or how the first call went. The full CrewBrain pricing engine takes those into account.
For the full method, read how to price moving jobs, or see CrewBrain for moving. To work out what one person-hour really costs you, use the labor burden calculator.
Questions owners ask
How do moving companies calculate prices?
Most estimate the hours for the crew, multiply by an hourly rate per mover, and add a truck or travel fee. This calculator builds the price from your real costs and shows the hourly rate it works out to.
How many movers should I send?
More movers finish sooner, but the total mover-hours stay about the same. The person-hours line shows the total, so you can try a different crew size.
Is this a binding estimate?
No. It is a planning tool for your own numbers. A real estimate depends on the inventory, the access and the distance.
